Although her birth name is Tila Nguyen, she is known better as Tila Tequila. Born in 1981, Tila Tequila began to gain notoriety as an import racing model. She took this notoriety, and by leveraging the viral nature and popularity of MySpace, expanding her notoriety outside of the world of import racing. Over time, she became one of the most popular people on MySpace.

Because of the amount of MySpace friends she amassed, Tila Tequila’s notoriety boomed, and she was able to strike a deal with MTV for her own reality show. Her show was named “A Shot at Love with Tila Tequila.” The show was a twist on the standard reality show dating format, because it featured not only male suitors competing for her, but female suitors as well. Before the show began, the contestants weren’t aware that they would be competing against the other sex, but Tila Tequila announced her bisexuality during the premiere of the show.

Thanks to the popularity of the first season, MTV aired “A Shot at Love II with Tila Tequila.” The show continued to be popular, and although Ms. Tila Nguyen decided not to be involved in Season 3, MTV aired “A Double Shot at Love,” which featured two bisexual female twins looking for love.

In addition to modeling and reality television, Tila Tequila has also released two music EPs. Her first EP, “Sex”, was released in 2007. She followed up this release with her second EP, “Welcome to the Dark Side,” in 2010.
